A couple weekends ago, I went to see Taylor graduate Power School but this weekend was my turn. I graduated college with a Bachelor’s degree in journalism and a minor in photography! To be honest, I really didn’t care about going to my graduation ceremony…at all. This last semester of school was exhausting for me and I really wanted to just stay in bed and have them send me my diploma. But it was important to my family so I walked.
The best part of the whole graduating thing was that Taylor came home to watch me. He stood by my side as I went through an important life event and it reminded me of a quote I heard a while back… “Most women want a man that is already established. A strong woman will be apart of his struggle, survive it, succeed together and build an empire.”

I am ALL about D.I.Y. gifts. Something crafted from your own hands has a different meaning and beauty to it than just a store bought gift. So with that in mind, I decided to make Taylor a small scrapbook as part of his Christmas present this year.
This is a good idea for several reasons.
- It’s nice for traveling. This was the main reason I want to make Taylor one. I wanted him to have something to bring with him when he can’t have a phone or a computer. Then your SO has something handmade that features photos and memorabilia. It’s like taking a piece of home and a piece of you with him.
- Making a scrapbook can be as expensive or inexpensive as you’d like it to be. It can be as fancy or as simple as you’d like it to be.
- “The gift that keeps on giving” is a phrase that can be applicable here. You can make this scrapbook a one time thing or you can keep making more pages for future holiday occasions as part of their present.
- This isn’t only a good idea for military SO’s. It can be a good Christmas present for any relationship or for a family member or friend. Tailor it to whomever you’d like to give it to.
