My earliest memory of fall took place at my grandparents house. They were persistent about raking up their leaves. My grandpa would throw on a light coat and put on his cap to go outside and rake piles of leaves. I did just the same except instead of raking I’d be jumping and ruining the piles that he had made. My birthday and Halloween are also in the month of October and then came November with Thanksgiving and heaven knows how much I love food. Along with fall came the start of school and I adored shopping for new school clothes and supplies. My love for fall started there.
And then, as I got older, the love grew. I discovered cozy sweaters and flannels at Goodwill, horror movies, moccasins and boots and fall-flavored coffees, pumpkin patches. And every year, it seems that I find something new to enjoy about fall whether it be a new horror movie, new lotion, new kind of sweater, etc.
This year has been no different! Of course, I have my staple fall faves but then also a new bunch of fall products that I am looking forward to for this year!
Apple Cinnamon Tea Drink
Apple cinnamon tea was my grandma’s thing. She’d ask for it at every restaurant we went to and bought a box every grocery store visit. Ever since my grandma passed away, the tea has become nostalgic for me and something I drink heavily during the fall months. The tea by itself is quite good, however, adding caramel creamer and a bit of almond milk just seals the deal. Very sweet, lots of apple flavor and slightly creamy.
Stephen King’s “It”
One of my co-workers was watching the movie trailer for the “It” movie coming out this September. Being a horror fan, I sat next to him and started watching it too when I realized that I had never read the book nor watched the original film… and I called myself a horror fan. I went and bought the book the next day and started eagerly reading.

Goodwill Fall Clothes
All, and I mean all, of my cozy sweaters and flannels are from Goodwill. I absolutely refuse to pay $20 plus dollars for a flannel at Target when I can buy a perfectly good, oversized, cozy flannel at Goodwill for $4.99.
I realize that you can’t go into your local Goodwill and find the same stuff I did but I will show you anyway to prove the point that Goodwill has the best when it comes to fall apparel. The key is to go into the men’s section even if you are a woman. The woman’s section has some alright stuff too but I have always found that they keep the good stuff on the men’s side!
Deep Purple “Eddie Bauer” Cable Knit Sweater $6.99
Red and Black “No Boundaries” Flannel $4.99
Blue Striped “Sonoma” Flannel $4.99
Dark Grey “On The Byas” Hoodie with Aztec print $5.99
My total came to $24.97.
Bath and Body Works lotions and Car Scentportables
I totally believe in a minimalistic lifestyle…until it comes to lotions and body sprays. I can’t control myself when walking into Bath and Body Works and at one time had a collection on my dresser of 40 different lotions and sprays. It’s a problem.
My collection sits at about 15 on my dresser currently so I have gotten better but couldn’t help but go check out their new fall scents.
These little disks are ahh-mazing. I will buy one at the beginning of every season (just one though they do offer deals on these) and it will last me three months. After I can’t really smell it in my car anymore, I will put them in my purse, sock and underwear drawer. My clothes and purse then smell amazing for another three months!
I bought Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin for myself and Sweater Weather for my mom this go around. I got them on a 2 for $6 deal. One is $3.50.
They brought out a few different scents this year: Marshmallow Pumpkin Latte, Salted Caramel Apricot, Spiced Pumpkin Cider, Champagne Apple and Honey, Bright Autumn Blooms. Pure honey is a new ingredient in all the scents!
My absolute, die-hard favorite has always been Marshmallow Pumpkin latte so that one was the first in my shopping bag. It’s a very warm, pumpkin scent that’s was very cozy. If you like Warm Vanilla Sugar or their Cashmere scents, then you’ll like this one. I also bought a bottle of the Salted Caramel Apricot lotion! It’s a slightly warm scent with a bright note to it. Think salted caramel but with a touch of freshness.
Champagne Apple and Honey was a lightly sweet, apple scent but I have an apple lotion at home already so I steered clear. I wasn’t really a fan of the Spiced Pumpkin Cider. I couldn’t really smell it and it was just an average pumpkin scent. Nothing special. It’s the kind of scent you’ve smelled a million times before. And I also wasn’t too impressed with Bright Autumn Blooms because it was far too flowery.
I love Bath and Body Works for their lotions, car scenatables and body care products but I can’t bring myself to buy their candles. I prefer Walmart’s candle selection for one reason: I can buy a few different scents at Walmart for the price of one candle at Bath and Body Works or Yankee Candle. The minimalist in me only likes to buy what I’ll need for the season so a few candles will last me until all the holiday candles start rolling out.
This year I chose an Apple Pumpkin jar by Better Homes which costed me $5.97 at Walmart.
